The Go City Pass – Is It Worth It?

My Honest Opinion (From Experience)

I’ll start by saying this straight.

This is one of my favorite passes in London.

That said, I’m fully aware it’s not perfect. There are situations where other passes are simply better. It really depends on how you like to travel.

So why do I like it so much?

Because you can choose exactly what you want to visit.

There’s no pressure to “do everything”, no feeling that you’re wasting money if you don’t rush from one attraction to another.

And that makes a big difference.

What Is the Go City Pass?

The Go City London Pass is a sightseeing pass that gives you access to multiple attractions for a fixed price.

But here’s the key difference.

It comes in two main versions:

  • All-Inclusive Pass (visit as many attractions as you want in a set number of days)

  • Explorer Pass (choose a fixed number of attractions to visit at your own pace)

That second option is what makes it interesting.

Why It Works So Well (Real Example)

If you’re planning to visit 2 or 3 attractions, this is honestly a no-brainer.

There’s almost no scenario where you don’t save money.

If I personally came to London for 1–2 days, this is exactly what I would do:

I’d get the Go City Explorer Pass London (currently around £89 for 3 attractions) and pick:

  • London Eye

  • A Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour (2-day ticket)

  • Tower of London

That combination alone usually saves you somewhere between £20–£30, sometimes even more depending on prices and season.

And the best part is, you can mix and match however you want.

You’re not locked into a fixed route.

The Big Advantage Most People Overlook

With the Go City Explorer Pass, you’re not racing against the clock.

Once you activate it, you have 30 days to use your attractions.

That’s huge.

It means:

  • You can spread things out

  • You can take breaks

  • You can actually enjoy London

Compare that to other passes where you need to stack everything into 1–2 days, and it’s a completely different experience.

When I Would Choose Something Else

Now, to keep it honest.

If you plan to do more than 3 attractions, things start to change.

That’s where the London Pass becomes more interesting, especially if you’re okay with visiting multiple places in the same day.

But if you don’t like rushing, or you don’t want to follow a strict schedule, the Go City still holds its ground.

Simple Way to Decide

  • 2–3 attractions → Go City Explorer Pass

  • 4+ attractions in a short time → London Pass

  • Only Merlin attractions → Combo tickets

That’s the simplest way to look at it.

This is where most people get confused.

One Important Tip

Before buying, list the attractions you actually want.

Then:

  • Check if they are included

  • Add up individual ticket prices

If the numbers make sense, go for it.

If not, skip it.

Simple as that.

Final Verdict: Is the Go City Pass Worth It?

Yes - if you want flexibility and a relaxed pace.

No - if you’re trying to maximize value in a short time.

It’s a great middle-ground option, but not always the best deal.
