Tootbus kids tour vs Brigit's themed tours

This is a classic "apples vs. oranges" situation, but both are fruit and both are delicious. If you're trying to decide between the Tootbus Kids Tour and Brigit’s Bakery Themed Tours (like Peppa Pig or Paddington), it really comes down to whether you want a "look at that!" experience or a "let's eat this!" experience.

Here’s my personal take on how they stack up.

Tootbus Kids Tour: The "Energy Burner"

I always say this is the best choice if you have younger kids (ages 4–10) who have a shorter attention span but a lot of curiosity.

  • The Vibe: It’s an open-top bus, which I love because kids can actually see the buildings without peering through a window. It’s fast-paced, loud, and fun.

  • Live guide: I’ve found the live guides here are the secret sauce. They don't just drone on about dates; they tell stories about gruesome history and funny royal facts that actually keep kids' ears perked up. Tootbus has some great guides, some of the most experienced in London, so fingers crossed you get lucky!

  • Duration: It’s only about 45 minutes. In my experience, that is the "Goldilocks zone" for kids, just long enough to see the highlights (Big Ben, London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Sq.) but short enough that they don't start asking "are we there yet?"

  • Price: It’s much easier on the wallet, usually around £20–£25 per person.

Brigit’s Bakery Themed Tours: The "Treat Yourself" Choice

This is less of a "tour" and more of an "event." Whether it’s the Peppa Pig or Paddington theme, I’d pick this for a special occasion or a rainy day.

  • The Vibe: You’re inside a beautifully restored vintage bus. It’s cozy, decorated to the nines, and most importantly, there is a full afternoon tea spread on the table in front of you.

  • Sights: I’ll be honest: if you’re here to "see" London, this might frustrate you. You’re looking through windows and focusing on your scones. But if you want a 90-minute escape where the kids are mesmerized by themed treats and built-in tablets playing animations, this is a winner.

  • Ages:  This works best for kids 5 and up. Since there are no toilets on board and you're dealing with hot tea and finger foods, it can be a bit stressful with toddlers.

  • Price: It’s a splurge. Expect to pay £50–£70+ per person.

The Verdict: Which would I choose?

  • Go with Tootbus if: You want your kids to actually learn a thing or two about London, you’re on a budget, or the weather is gorgeous and you want that open-air feel. I’d choose this for a first-time visit.

  • Go with Brigit’s if: It’s a birthday, it’s raining, or your child is obsessed with Paddington or Peppa. I’d save this for a special treat rather than using it as your primary way to see the city.

One final pro-tip from me: If you go with Tootbus, try to snag a seat in the middle or back of the top deck. The front row is only really good if it's raining. To get the best seats make sure you arrive early, this one is super popular.
